King spent his entire impressive career with Spurs, suiting up for Tottenham FC from 1999-2012 and appearing in well over 300 games for them. Here at Signathon, we can't wait to host our free live event with the THFC legend and also have fans engage with him in a VIP 1-on-1 chat.
Before we dive into that on Nov. 20, though, we think it's time to relive some of his best moments with Spurs.
4. Ledley King scores the fastest goal in Premier League History
In December of 2000, King and Tottenham took on Bradford City in a fun match. Well, King opened things up with a bang, as he found the back of the net after only 9.83 seconds of play. That's unreal! It was the fastest goal in EPL history.
King would hold that title for 19 years. Unfortunately, Southampton's Shane Long set a new record of 7.69 seconds in 2019. Still, though, no one will forget this awesome moment from King. (You can see the goal at the 3:45 mark of the video below)
3. Ledley King scores an amazing goal vs. Arsenal
When it came to the North London Derby, King knew exactly what was on the line each time Tottenham and Arsenal would face off. This is the kind of showdown that folks can't wait for each year.
In a match against the Gunners during the 2005-06 season, King found the back of the net with an amazing header. While he wasn't known for being a goal scorer, King ran into the middle of the box and recorded a textbook finish.
2. Ledley King stops Arjen Robben in crucial moment
Few Spurs fans have forgotten about the November 2006 win over Chelsea at White Hart Lane. It was Spurs' first win league victory over Chelsea since 1990 and King came up HUGE.
With the game tied at 0-0, a perfect through ball landed for Arjen Robben. The superstar player looked all set to score, but King sprinted with all his power and recorded a sensational tackle at the last second. Seriously, it was the defensive play of the year. (You can watch the tackle at the 1:58 mark of the video below)
1. Captain Ledley King leads Tottenham to League Cup win in 2008
Last but not least, goodness, let's talk about the 2008 League Cup Final between Chelsea and Tottenham. This one was a thriller and King indeed wore the captain's armband for this massive contest. With the hardware on the line, Spurs came away with an unreal 2-1 win.
After the final whistle, King made his way to the trophy and lifted it high into the sky to seal the championship win for Tottenham. This is the kind of moment players dream about for Tottenham. There's no better feeling than being captain and helping your team win a title. King got this done in 2018 vs. the Blues. It'll forever be remembered in THFC history.
