Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was wildly underrated

Seriously, has there ever been a player who was more underrated in the English Premier League than Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink? The superstar striker may have only been with Chelsea from 2000-2004, but he was one of the best goal-scorers during that time in the league.

Sign up to speak 1-on-1 with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink!

A true No. 9, Hasselbaink, now the manager for League One Burton Albion, dazzled time and time again whenever he was on the pitch, recording some truly unforgettable goals for the Blues. We could go on and on all day about his greatness. That's how stunning he was for this team.

Hasselbaink went on to score more than 70 goals for Chelsea. Folks of course haven't forgotten about this hat-trick against Spurs in 2002. He also scored some stellar goals against Arsenal, Everton, Leicester City and others.

What about his finish against Manchester United in 2000? If you're a die-hard Chelsea supporter, that strike at Old Trafford probably still gives you goosebumps. In case you need a fresh reminder, check out the video above (at the 3:40 mark).

That goal really is sensational. Hasselbaink had a knack for finding the back of the net and he truly could make opposing defenses look silly with ease. He was the kind of player who could not be stopped when he pushed forward with passion.

When he first joined Chelsea, the club inked him for a record fee of £15 million, which he of course proved to be worth every penny. In three of his four seasons with CFC, Hasselbaink was the team's leading scorer. During the 2000-2001 campaign, his first with Chelsea, Hasselbaink was the EPL's top scorer with 23 goals. A golden boot to start things off?

That's an achievement that players dream of before a season gets underway. For Hasselbaink to do so in his first year in London made things even more special for him. Come Dec. 15, Chelsea fans can ask Hasselbaink all about his great finishes and so much more. We can't wait for that big day to arrive.
